Update: 09/14/2025
The constant question that challenges those of us who are believers in Christ is how do we live out our Christian worldview in the world, so as be the light in a world that so desperately needs Jesus Christ. This challenge is especially true when life throws at us what appear to be contradictions, leading us to question how God is working in our lives. This month’s blog article explores the important difference between what we experience contradictions and what are life’s paradoxes that we are called to navigate by an ongoing understanding and knowledge of God and His sovereign control in our lives. We reach such an understanding as we do all things pertaining to God – via His grace.
Update: 08/14/2025
For this month’s blog article, I have moved Ava Addams’ article, 03/14/2020, from the Theology page to the blog page because I wanted it to be front and center on Contemplations. It is a well-written article that deserves to be highlighted on this blog.
Update: 07/14/2025
Rather than the original article I intended to post this month, I see the need to write about the experiences taking place in the Hill Country of Texas where flooding has led to the loss of many lives, including those of numerous children. Camp Mystic is a Christian summer camp where kids from all over the state and outside of the state attend each summer. This year the planned camp festivities turned into broken-hearted loss for countless families. Camp Mystic was not the only sight hit by the floods and loss of life. As I write this update, search efforts for those lost are continuing. Although I don’t come close to comprehending what families are going through now, I wanted to speak to God’s lovingkindness and sovereignty, especially in those times when questions of why surface in our hearts. Coming to grips with these experiences is not something a blog article can accomplish for people, but I wanted to show some prayerful support in writing about God’s character and truth. The article builds on Psalm 42, specifically verses 7-8, and is posted for July 14th reading [here]. I call on all of us to remember those in the Hill Country of Texas in our daily prayers. Rather than words thrown in the air, prayer is a powerful work. May God’s peace, grace, and lovingkindness envelop those who live in Kerr County and the surrounding areas. [As I write this, there is also some heavy flooding that occurred in New Mexico. May we be in prayer for those impacted there as well.]
